This one is going to be short but I feel like I need to include it because it's typically seen as the quintessential adaptation. It's going to be short though because I have honestly only seen it maybe once, when I was a lot younger.
For some reason, it didn't really jive with me. It could be because it wasn't the first version I saw, and sometimes the first version you see hits harder. I think that one reason I didn't take to it as well could be that it seemed to me like Anne and Gilbert had an excessive age difference, just based on the appearance of the actors.
I watched the trailer for it today, and I definitely think it could be great. All I'll say is that on first watch we didn't click.
