Anne of Green Gables -Green Gables Fables Adaptation

I came across Green Gables Fables one day last summer. This adaptation is a series of vlog-style YouTube videos that document Anne's story presented in modern times. There are two seasons, and they map to Anne of Green Gables and Anne of the Island. This is the first adaptation I've seen that follows Anne to Redmond, which is super fun because we get to see Phillipa, Stella, and Priscilla represented on screen. The series also has vlogs done by Gilbert, Diana, Ruby, Jane, Phil, Pris and Stella, and Fred, with supplementary social media accounts.

Overall, I absolutely love this adaptation. Having it take place in modern times provides lots of fun opportunites for the authors to present the timelessness of the story while adapting it in creative ways. The show does an excellent job of preserving the tone of the book. The modern setting helps get at the heart of who the characters are, as the vlog style gives them all time to talk freely about what matters to them. The casting is excellent, as is the setting. It's a cozy show and I think it does an excellent job of capturing the feel of the novels. I'm also super happy that they did season two at Redmond, because as I mentioned, no other adaptation does that! I'm still waiting for someone to do Anne of Avonlea, but maybe Miss Lavender is to ethereal to capture on screen. Love her. Anyway, I would highly recommend this one!
