Happy Easter everyone! Easter Sunday was yesterday, but in my tradition we celebrate it for 50 days, so we're still in the Easter season. As it works out, today is also April Fools Day! We pranked my director at rehearsal today by having the stage manager Rick Roll him at a dramatic part in the show.
In other recent news, I was prom-posed to today! My friend created a scavenger hunt around town, and we wound up at the place where we met, and he asked me to go to prom with him! I said yes :)
I'm working on writing a paper for school right now, and it's quite long. So far, I've written around 10 of the 20 required pages, but I'm getting there. The paper is about the Brontë sisters, who are some of my favorite authors. They made an incredible impact on the world of literature, which is amazing considering how none of them lived past 40, and how they mostly lived in one place on the remote Yorkish moors.
I've made my plans for next year, which I'm very excited about, because they include moving to be closer to some family and getting to live in a cool place. I've never moved before, so it will be an adventure!
The weather has been very nice lately. Where I live, the weather can be indecisive this time of year, and I think it has just decided that it will be kind to us, for a while at least.
My voice is packing its bags and is doing its darndest to leave me, but I've employed tea and vitamins and sleep to fight to win it back, and I can only hope that it's working. As I write this, I'm sitting with a cup of lemon and honey throat comfort tea and asking St. Basil to pray for me! I need to be able to sing with a vocal competition coming up and a musical the week after that. I'm sure my voice will be convinced to come back soon.
Well, that's my news! I hope that you are having a lovely day!
Update: My voice has succeeded in fleeing from me. I’m sending out my team on a reconnaissance mission with the one force that cannot be beat: vocal rest. Hopefully we get it back!
Last night I was coughing away and could not get to sleep. When I had been up for several hours, my sleepy brain decided I needed to take action. I filled my humidifier and placed it next to my bed. I made a huge cup of throat coat tea, with juice of half a lemon and a ton of honey. I got a water bottle, Kleenexs, and cough drops, and put them at my bedside table. I propped up my pillows so that I could breathe better, and put on one of my dad’s turtlenecks to keep my neck warm. With these tools, I was able to get to sleep!
